The holidays are over. Many people made New Year’s resolutions about changing their habits, losing weight and getting to the gym. We set some goals as well, but most of them focused on our faith, family, and RVing! It might sound strange to have a New Year’s goal around Rving, but since it has become such a huge part of our lives, we felt it just made sense. We are determined to broaden our knowledge of RVing. Learning about our own RV, RV repairs & maintenance, places to visit, and of course the latest “must have” gadgets to make our RVing that much more enjoyable. What better way to accomplish this than to attend RV shows? With most of the country dodging winter storms, we thought we would take advantage of  Atlanta’s winter weather.  January marks the kick-off of the RV show season in Atlanta and we were determined to take full advantage of what was at our fingertips.

Our plan was ambitious; 3 RV shows, 2 states, all in one month! The three RV shows we visited where:

  1. The Georgia RV & Camper Show at the North Atlanta Trade Center in Norcross, GA   Jan 8-11th
  2.  The Florida RV Super Show in Tampa, Florida   Jan 13th-17th
  3.  Atlanta RV and Camper Show in Atlanta, GA  – Jan 29th-31st

Like most of you, I follow and listen to other RV blogs and podcasts. There are some really good recaps of shows like the Florida RV Super Show done by RVTFA. We are not hear to do full in-depth reviews of all the shows. We would rather spend our time (and yours) telling you what we learned.

The Georgia RV & Camper Show

This show was the definition of a local RV show. Only a few dealerships were represented. All the difference classes of RV’s were available to preview from pop-ups to a nice selection of class A’s. Since there were only a few different dealerships, selection of brands was limited to whichever brands those dealerships offered. If your just starting the process or have narrowed your list down to the represented brands then this type of show is well worth your time.IMG_20160108_143238~6 We loved checking out the vendor exhibits. Again, a very local group of vendors from home repair companies, nearby campgrounds, state parks and locally made products. Our favorite was the Angel Ware International booth. They sold a  tasty selection of homemade jams/jellies, homemade soaps and bath scents. We fell in love with a fantastic blueberry and ginger jam.

Florida RV Super Show in Tampa

If you have never been to the Florida RV Super Show, then you really don’t know what your missing!  So let me tell you a few things that you have missed out on. It is the largest RV show in the country!  Yes, I know Hershey says the same thing, so they can continue to battle it out each year for that title.

To say we were blown away by the Florida RV Super Show, may not due it justice.IMG_1854 First of all, you need days to spend there and even that doesn’t guarantee you will see everything.  The entertainment? Talking plants, clowns, pirates, jugglers, barbershop quartets, and so much more!

Now let’s talk about the real stars of the show…the RV’s. I have never seen so many brands and types of RV’s in one place in my life. There was literally something for everyone. IMG_1989If you are shopping for a new RV (keep in mind they only have new RV’s), this is the place for you. Every price point was represented. You can find a trailer that you can tow behind a motorcycle, all the way up to multi-million dollar RV’s like this Prevost. IMG_1926 We have a Newmar class A , it was great to be able see the selection of 2016 Newmar models in one place. Also, a huge benefit to a show of this size, was to meet with high ranking manufacture reps. We even met with the CEO of Newmar Matt Miller! With a RV show of this size, that draws people from hundreds of miles away, it makes sense to have onsite camping available.  We attended our first Newmar  RV rally, meeting people from all over the country. It was an eye opening experience to meet RVer’s who were so ferociously loyal to their brand of RV.  It was also our first time semi-boondocking. We had some electrical, but no sewer or water….that’s another blog in itself. We had so much fun, we vowed to come back next year and turn it into a family trip. Disney not’s too far away you know. Running into other minority RVers was an added bonus.

 Atlanta RV and Camper Show

For a local RV show this was a pretty impressive show. While not on the Tampa level, it offered a huge variety of RV’s, dealers and brands to choose from. This show also hosted a few seminars that were very useful to RVer’s of all experience levels. Loved the RV maintenance seminar .

Our key takeaways….

  • It is confirmed…We are officially RV fanatics!
  • RV shows, whether local or national have value for every level of RVer
  • Take time to take in a seminar…there’s lots of valuable information to be had.
  • You don’t have to be shopping for an RV to enjoy a RV show
  • If you are an RVer, or even thinking about an RV, make sure you enjoy the Florida RV Super show at least once in your RV lifetime
