AMENITIES:

Campground Details:

The sites are right on the beach. The best sites are the “Ocean Front – Premium” sites.

However, even if you have a regular ocean front site it is very enjoyable. We were able to have our morning coffee in our captain’s chairs with a full windshield view of the Atlantic Ocean.

The road that goes through the park is paved and when our boys were taking a break from playing in the ocean, they enjoy riding their scooters up and down the road.

The campground itself is right off A1A, which is the main strip that runs down the east coast of Florida closest to the beach. We did not notice much of the street noise, but you will definitely enjoy the sounds of the ocean waves.

No Pull thru sites. Very friendly staff. The campstore is very well stocked and has a full kitchenette available for use.

There is a seawall that seperates the actual campground from ocean, which offers a spectacular view of the ocean from the RV

OVERALL FEEL OF THE CAMPGROUND:

It was quiet and relaxing during our stay in October, but I imagine it is busier during the summer months. Great beach camping. There is only one strip road in and out, so families with kids on bikes and scooters must be vigilant for car and RV traffic.

REGIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:

We mainly stayed on the beach.

Kennedy Space Center is about one hour south of the campground.

St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum – 45 minutes north

St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum

St. Augustine Outlet Shopping

Daytona international Speedway

Fort Matanzas National Monument NPS – Coastal FL was a major battlefield as Europe fought for control in then New World. This fort guarded St Augustine’s southern river approach. FREE Ferry ride across the river to the fort.

Great beach for family photos!!

Bulow Creek State Park and Bulow Plantation Ruins State Park – walking trails reminiscent of unspoiled old Florida experience, there is a 2,000 year old Fairchild Oak tree there. Walking tours of the ruins of an old sugar plantation. Ormond Beach 20 minutes away

NOBODY’S PERFECT:

Maybe to have a couple of activities on the beach for families. Possibly a beach bonfire and s’mores night.

Insider Tip:

Our site number was # 33 oceanfront. It was a few feet from the steps to enter the beach. It was our first time camping at the beach. IMG_0061 Waking up in the morning, opening the front windshield shade and having an ocean view drinking your morning coffee…priceless….
