As 2020 comes to a close, we want take a few moments to reflect on this year as to how it’s changed our family and probably yours. First, we want to recognize all those families that have lost a loved one to COVID-19.  As I write this, a cousin who I grew up with is in the hospital suffering from severe symptoms of COVID-19.  We sincerely send our prayers out to every family and every person who has been touched by this dreadful pandemic. Vaccines are currently being administered and our prayer is that in the coming months all of us will start to get back to a normal life.  We will continue to pray for everyone that has been affected. God bless you all..

This pandemic has brought many changes into our lives such as, more online shopping, online learning, wide spread homeschooling, and the surge in RVing has been the most pleasant surprise. The pandemic definitely changed the way we went rving in 2020. In fact these changes will be part of our RVing lives moving forward.  As we close the book on 2020 travel and open it up for 2021, we are very excited for the future of RVing.

Recapping our 2020 Adventures

2020 started out like the past couple years for us, we were bringing the new year in at Epcot watching the amazing fireworks display. Little did we know that it would be one of the last big RV trips for our family in 2020. Now in no way do I want to make light of the pandemic or COVID-19. The pandemic brought on many changes in everyone’s vacation travel plans which caused frustration, and more people became stir crazy. One of the only and safest methods to get out of your home was to be in the great outdoors and even that presented challenges,. The idea of getting away while still staying safe led to an explosive growth in the RV industry. RV’s were flying off dealership lots, as people found out what all of us in the RV community already knew, that RVing was a great way to travel. For our family, we decided that we still wanted to take some trips but agreed to keep it more local in the state within a 2-3 hour drive, and that those trips would be focused on being outdoors. So unfortunately when our bucket list trip to Alaska got postponed to 2021 or beyond due to Covid, we relied on some back-up travel plans. We coupled our local travel with some roadschooling trips and oddly enough, those local trips actually opened our eyes to what was in our own backyard. Typically our travel is based on going to sites we haven’t seen. I love planning those big epic road trips but with those out of the picture, we became very creative in finding and exploring the local, and state gems that we had not explored.

We explored the little Grand Canyon of Georgia, which is one of the seven natural wonders of Georgia.

Took a trip to Huntsville, Alabama to explore and learn at the US space and Rocket center. Standing under the massive Saturn five rocket brought back my childhood dreams of being an astronaut.

We explored the Coca-Cola Science Center and learned all about the space shuttle program. The kids loved the flight simulators.

Enjoyed a trip to the Helen, Georgia, in the North Georgia mountains to hike and go tubing.

It was all about being outside, keeping social distance, and wearing our masks when around other people.

We did slip down to Disney in October to check out how the 25% percent capacity felt. We wrote a full blog about it for FMCA. .

New and Renewed partnerships

While 2020 has been challenging for our family, we have been so blessed to become partners and renew partnerships with some of the best in the RV industry. We entered into a brand new partnership with Camping World.

We took part in a few segments of Camping World’s virtual Ultimate RV Show in August, and we will be part of their outreach for months to come. In fact, they have been so kind to give us a discount code to share with our followers:

**Use SOULFULRV10 for 10% OFF purchases of $99 or more**

Also, we are doing a giveaway very soon where 3 random winners will win $100 Camping World gift certificates. For more info on that…. follow our Twitter and Instagram accounts.

With so many new to the RV lifestyle, the need has never been greater for good RV trip planning tools. We have partnered with three of the best out there and we personally use each one of them.  For trip route planning, RV Trip wizard  is our go to app. Now that it’s part of RV Life, you get a full suite of RV trip tools for one low price!

The Dyrt is a great campground booking and research app. Click here to access this great planning tool.

TOGO RV is a wonderful tool to keep track of RV maintenance, RV recalls, campground reviews, and so much more!

We will continue to provide content for FMCA, and look forward to being part of their upcoming International convention March 10-13th in Perry, Georgia.

We will continue to work with LCI to review their products so we can bring you honest opinions of the best products they offer.

Last, but certainly not least, there’s GoRVing.   GoRving was our first RV partner and they have been so wonderful to work with.

Their mission is to invite people to enjoy and experience the great outdoors. We are so proud to be part of their outreach team, sharing our experiences with the RV community.

In fact, I just finished taking part in a FB live on Go RVing FB page with former Patriots OL, Matt Light, a fellow RVer. Click this link to check that out.

What’s up for us in 2021?

So what will 2021 bring for Soulful Rv Family? Unfortunately, we have decided it’s safer to pass on the Florida RV Supershow (Tampa RV Show) for 2021. We are cautiously optimistic that life will begin to return to normal at some point in 2021. So we are planning 2-3 separate types of travel for the year..

  1. A bucket list trip to Alaska. Enough said right?  We had this 3 month trip planned with Fulltime Families in 2020 and it was postponed due to COVID. We’ll have to see how things are progressing to evaluate if we will in fact have to postpone it another year. Fingers crossed.
  2.  We will be taking longer trips, like revisiting DC, finger lakes in NY, maybe a spin back to Maine, etc.  but keeping those to a 2-4 weeks at a time.
  3. Last option would be if there is still a wide ranging issue with Covid and it still would not be safe to travel far, in that case we would be mainly staying in state again exploring all the natural beauty of Georgia.

Quick Disney Update

Covid surges caused us to cancel our holiday plans for Disney world in 2020. We did take a scouting trip down to Disney in October. We wrote a full blog post for FMCA about our experience. So many of you have asked, where do we stay when we go to Disney? We seem to travel there quite often and that has to cost a fortune. We of course love Fort Wilderness, but a few years ago we decided that if we wanted to go and not break our budget, we needed a new plan. So we ended up purchasing two lots in a RV resort less than 12 miles from the Magic Kingdom.

We love the freedom owning these lots has given us. The ability to travel down to Florida anytime we want and not worry about campgrounds being full. With all the new RVers entering our community, we know that it’s only going to get more cumbersome to find RV spots close to Disney. With that, we have two wonderful couples that rent our lots in the month of February-March. We have decided to open up the lots to additional renters throughout the year. If you are interested, check out our AirBnB listing here. You can watch a Youtube video we shot showing off the resort by clicking the link here

So with all the crap and changes forced upon us in 2020, we say goodbye to this year and we welcome in 2021! Welcome all the new RVers to the wonderful RV lifestyle. It’s a fantastic community and we are blessed to be part of it.

Happy holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing many of you on the road next year. Safe travels.
